Sharma and the former head of the Free State’s agriculture department, Peter Thabethe, appeared in that court yesterday to apply for bail after they were arrested last week.

Thabete was granted bail of R 10-thousand yesterday.

The two men, and several other accused, face charges of fraud, money laundering and corruption related to the failed, R 288-million Estina dairy project in the Free State.
