The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has lost another elected councillor, this time in eThekwini.

Ward 103 councillor Minenhle Mkhize was killed in a hail of bullets outside his house, on Saturday night. Mkhize was a newly-elected councillor taking over the post following the municipal elections in November. Meanwhile, the ANC says deepening divisions and factionalism remain the biggest threat to it and the country’s democratic gains. This was a warning shot by the party’s leaders, who cautioned about counter-revolutionary threats within the governing party, at a two-day Lekgotla, held at the weekend.
