Tafelsig woman found murdered in Wolfgat Nature Reserve

Published on

Mitchell’s Plain Police are investigating the murder of a 29-year-old woman, whose body was discovered in bushes at the Wolfgat Nature Reserve on Thursday morning, 21 August.

Officers were alerted by a passerby at around 11:00 to a body in the bushes.

The passerby showed them the location of the deceased, who had multiple stab wounds to the neck. She was declared deceased by medical personnel on the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, the deceased and her boyfriend were last seen in Meagan Street in Tafelsig at about 02:00 in the morning, when they were accosted by a group of about five men who allegedly confronted them.

The suspects allegedly started stabbing the boyfriend, who fled the scene on foot.

He was later traced at a nearby medical facility, where he was admitted for treatment.

The 29-year-old woman was not so fortunate. It is unclear whether she tried to escape her attackers by also running away, or whether they managed to overwhelm her in Meagan Street, and later dumped her body.

Meagan Street is very close to the edge of the Wolfgat Nature Reserve.

The suspects are yet to be arrested. Anyone with information is requested to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via MySAPS Mobile application anonymously.
