Swimmers prep for Robben Island Palestine relay swim

A group of 12 swimmers is preparing for a relay swim from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand on Freedom Day. They will be swimming from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand in a bid to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Palestine.

 

Three teams, of four swimmers each, will set off from Robben Island, bracing the icy waters of Table Bay, to swim from the island to Bloubergstrand.

 

“As the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, we are all too aware that we now must pay this forward through supporting our compatriots in Palestine, as they too strive towards democracy,” the group stated on a social media post.

 

Supporters are urged to show their solidarity by joining the swimmers at Big Bay on the day and by pledging a donation. The funds will be directed to Gift of the Givers for their work in Palestine and South Africa.
