Star Wars Legend Ian McDiarmid joins Comic Con Cape Town

Star Wars Legend Ian McDiarmid is joining Comic Con Cape Town 2025. Comic Con Cape Town has confirmed the legendary actor behind Star Wars’ Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious, will be appearing at the festival on 3 & 4 May – just in time for Star Wars Day on May the Fourth. Cape Town is about to feel the full power of the Dark Side!

McDiarmid, known for his iconic role across Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith, will offer fans a rare chance to meet the Sith Lord himself. Attendees can look forward to autograph signings, photo ops, and exclusive Main Stage Q&A sessions where McDiarmid will share insights from his time in one of cinema’s most legendary franchises.

Festival Show Director Carla Massmann highlights the cultural impact of Star Wars: “From ‘Jedi mind tricks’ to ‘May the Force be with you,’ Star Wars has left an undeniable mark on pop culture.” She adds that McDiarmid’s appearance is a celebration of the franchise’s legacy and fan community.

Comic Con Cape Town 2025, taking place at CTICC 2 from 1 – 4 May, promises a galactic celebration with Star Wars-themed activities, including cosplay contests, trivia quizzes, and exclusive merch from top vendors. May the Fourth will be the biggest celebration yet for Star Wars fans in South Africa.
