South Africa is one of the countries that will receive vaccines directly from America as part of that country’s plan to distribute up to 55 million doses worldwide.

The US has promised to share doses of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines with other countries.

Some of the doses will be shared via the Covax initiative while doses will also be sent directly to countries.

Of the 55-million doses, 41-million will be sent to Covax.

At least 14-million doses will be sent to Latin American countries and the Caribbean, while 16-million will be sent to Asia and 10-million to Africa.
