Sergeant caught for Insurance Fraud Murders

A Police Sergeant has been caught for suspected Insurance Fraud Murders. The on-duty Sergeant was arrested at a police station in Limpopo, following a lengthy investigation by Captain Keshi Mabunda. The allegations against her state that she was fraudulently benefiting from funeral, accidental and life policy covers from various banks and insurance companies.

It’s believed that her killing spree had maybe started in 2019.The Police say her victims were known to her. They were from impoverished and disadvantaged backgrounds and some were also disabled or mentally challenged.

 

Killing Spree started 5 years ago

 

The Police Probe shows that she had taken out life policy and funeral covers on behalf of these people and in all the cases, she was made the beneficiary.

At this stage, she is linked to 6 insurance-related murders. Evidence shows that she has pocketed at least R10 million.

 

An absolute disgrace

 

Meanwhile, the National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola has welcomed the arrest of the 43-year-old Police Member. He says her alleged involvement in the crimes, is a disgrace.

“For a police officer entrusted with such a great responsibility to be involved in such acts is an absolute disgrace. She abused her powers by insuring those who trusted her,” he added.

He has stressed that police members are entrusted with the safety and security of communities.

Masemola says this must send a strong warning to all involved that the long arm of the law will find you and catch you.

 

Court Appearance

 

He says following months of investigation, the investigating team obtained a warrant of arrest this week. The warrant was executed at the police station where she works and she was arrested.

At this stage, she’s expected to appear in the Polokwane District Court on Friday, 11 October 2024. She faces 6 counts of murder and about 17 cases of fraud.
