The Western Cape police are appealing to the public to assist them in finding two men who may have information on the fatal mass shooting in Gugulethu on Saturday.

Seven men were gunned down in the Kanana informal settlement in the early morning hours.

According to police, the men were gathered in the kitchen of a home in the area when unknown gunmen stormed the premises and opened fire.

Three other men who were in the house at the time, but in a different room, survived the attack.

Initial investigations by members of the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit suggest that the attack may have been targeted, but no arrests have been made thus far.

The motive for the killings remains unclear.

Western Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, who visited the scene shortly after the incident, condemned the killings and vowed to mobilise every available resource to track down those responsible.

“Violent and firearm-related crimes remain a top priority for the Western Cape SAPS, and no resource will be spared in the pursuit of justice,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Linde Madolo and Loyiso Matinisi is urged to contact the police.

It is believed the men hold key information that could assist in the investigation. While they are not suspects, detectives are keen to question them as part of ongoing inquiries

Gugulethu locals or anyone who may have intel can contact Sergeant Sithembele Sambunjelwa on 073 416 5224, or share anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the MySAPS app.

It comes after two other group killings earlier in the week. Three alleged hijackers were killed in Nyanga on Thursday, and another three in Samora Machel in a suspected vigilante murder on Tuesday.
