The police have confirmed that the search for a 55-year-old man is ongoing, following his disappearance in Wellington on Monday.
The man, identified as Jan Lingenfelder, was reported missing after reportedly going for a walk that day.
Police, the local municipality, security companies and others have been searching for the man since Tuesday.
“SAPS, Law Enforcement, Local Municipality, CPF members, CIB members, Security companies and EMS service and K9 with search and rescue dogs were on scene searching/looking for him,” said Western Cape SAPS spokesperson, Captain F.C Van Wyk.
Van Wyk noted that K9 search and rescue dogs, as well as its Drone Unit, were deployed on Wednesday, but there’s still no sign of Lingenfelder.
He is said to have been wearing a grey Kway jacket, black shorts, and blue takkies at the time of his disappearance.
The Wellington Community Policing Forum said Lingenfelder’s last known location was near a farm across from Antonies Vlei.
A private firefighters group, DFW Fire and Rescue, also shared an alert for the missing man, noting that Lingenfelder’s family reported him as missing to its Fire and Rescue Centre on Monday night.
“It is believed that he may have intended walking in the direction of Cannetsfontijn Farm, close to the Bainskloof area. Jan has a heart condition, which makes locating him as soon as possible particularly important,” read the group’s alert on Facebook.
It further appealed to the public to assist with any information on the man’s possible whereabouts.
