School Resource Officers have been working hard to make schools a safer place and between January last year and March this year, these officers have confiscated 58 weapons from learners, including 46 knives.

The SRO programme was first piloted in 6 schools in 2012, and today, 36 Law Enforcement Officers are assigned to the project at various schools. Mayco member for Safety and Security JP Smith says, in one year they also confiscated 194 dagga joints from learners.
