The pandemic has certainly taken its toll on the world; and in a city like Cape Town that thrives on tourism, outdoor activities and socialising, we have certainly felt it harder than most.

With the launch of the vaccination drive early in 2021, we knew the end was in sight, at least we could now be protected. However, misinformation, complacency and a sense of ego have delayed this process. The fact is: the vaccination could save your life, limit transmission and probably allow us to get life to whatever the new normal is sooner than not doing anything. With that in mind, Smile 90.4 FM has launched the Save our Summer campaign to promote vaccination in the Western Cape.

Smile 90.4 FM has printed posters with a QR code on them and have them put up at all the major public vaccination sites in the city and beyond. The QR code gives you a clue to the Smile Secret Sound, which could very easily win you R25 000. The clue is exclusive to the public who have been vaccinated.

The campaign launched on Monday 23rd August and was then endorsed by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde on Thursday 26th August. The campaign will continue until we can claim – “we have saved summer” – by getting vaccinated!
