SAHRC probe Minister Gayton McKenzie’s offensive comments

An official investigation is underway by the South African Human Rights Commission into offensive comments made by Sport and Culture Minister, Gayton McKenzie.

 

The SAHRC said that McKenzie’s social media posts on X, between 2011 and 2017, constitute prima facie violations of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.

 

 

He used the k-word, but McKenzie maintains that it was not used in a racist context.

The Commission says it has sent him an allegation letter, and he has reportedly been given until Wednesday to respond.
