Protests are expected to take place outside the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today ahead of the appearance of Zandile Mafe, the man accused of starting the devastating fire at Parliament last week.

Civil society, activists and lobby groups are expected to hold demonstrations outside the court as they believe Mafe is being used as a scapegoat. Already, the Black People National Crisis Committee, homeless organisations and community groups have indicated they will be marching.
