Proteas vs India – Lunch update

Published on

It’s been a tightly contested opening session in the third and final test match between the Proteas and India.

Indian captain Virat Kholi won the toss and chose to have a bat first. However, bowling might have been the better option when taking the overcast conditions and green, nippy wicket into account.

Both opening bowlers, Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier came out guns blazing this morning. They found some dangerous lengths which really tested India’s opening pair.

While a couple of opportunities just didn’t go the South Africans way, the breakthrough finally came in the 12th over.

In fact, both openers found themselves back in the changing room in successive overs. Kl Rahul was caught behind by Kyle Verreynne for 12 off the bowling of Duanne Olivier, while Mayank Agarwal was caught at second slip by Aiden Markram for 15 off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada.

Play at Newlands will get back underway at 13h15.
