Ramaphosa says this will ensure that funds and resources are retained in the African economy, which would also boost job creation and investment.
Meanwhile: Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta says the need for African countries to build their own covid-19 vaccine-manufacturing capabilities is not only urgent but also existential. Kenyatta met with President Ramaphosa in Pretoria yesterday. He says it’s unfortunate that, at a time, when the world should be collaborating to fight the covid-19 pandemic, many overseas countries are still hoarding their vaccine supplies.
Kenyatta and Ramaphosa will be visiting the Aspen Pharmacare vaccine-manufacturing facility in the Eastern Cape today. Kenyatta’s official state visit to South Africa concludes today.
