Former professional rugby player, radio & TV presenter, sports commentator and motivational speaker are only a few titles to describe the versatile character of Ricky Schroeder. Fans might recognise him as ‘The Guy’ from well-known Afrikaans talk show Tussen Ons on KykNet & Kie or the Supersport commentator bracing their screens at rugby matches, but that is only the tip of the ice berg when it comes to Ricky’s career achievements.

Born in Worcester in the Western Cape and moving to Cape Town at the age of seven, Ricky attended Paul Roos Gymnasium from which he matriculated in 2009. He studied at the University of Cape Town, but soon had to leave his studies behind and move to greener pastures in Johannesburg to start his professional rugby career with The Lions.
