President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office rejects claims that the President has in any manner interfering with the work of the Zondo commission or the judiciary as speculated by some opposition parties. Ramaphosa was meant to receive the last of the commission’s report yesterday, but the handover has been delayed to tomorrow. Yesterday he discussed this with Justice Raymond Zondo which has been criticised as interference.

DA leader John Steenhuisen yesterday said it was disturbing that the president met with Chief Justice to discuss the release of the final installment of the report into State Capture. Steenhuisen says because Ramaphosa himself appeared before the Commission, he could himself be implicated and therefore the meeting was inappropriate and unethical.
