Police search for suspects in murder of Mauritian man in Parklands

Western Cape police are actively searching for suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old Mauritian businessman in Parklands over the weekend. The victim, who was shot multiple times while sitting in his car, was declared dead at the scene.

 

The shooting occurred on Saturday afternoon, in a parking area outside the Emporium Shopping Centre along Sandown Road. He was in a black Lexus.

 

Provincial police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said unknown gunman opened fire on him. He was reportedly shot at more than 10 times. Then attacker fled the scene immediately.

 

According to reports, no items were taken from the vehicle.

 

“Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend those responsible for the death,” said Swartbooi.

 

The authorities believe the murder was a planned hit.

 

Mauritian media houses have identified the victim as Nadeem Bissessur. He is said to be from Vallee Pitot originally but is believed to have been in South Africa for some time.

 

 

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Witnesses or individuals who can shed light on the circumstances of the attack are asked to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS mobile app to report information anonymously.
