The City of Cape Town will temporarily interrupt electricity supply to parts of Sea Point, Camps Bay, Clifton and nearby areas later this month to carry out critical upgrades to its electricity infrastructure.
According to the City, the planned maintenance is designed to improve the reliability of electricity supply and help prevent future network faults.
The City says the planned outage will take place from Saturday, 22 August, until Sunday, 23 August, with 29 August identified as an alternative date.
“The work is planned to be carried out from 22:00 on Saturday, 22 August 2026 until 06:00 on Sunday, 23 August 2026, if all goes to plan. Alternate dates are also provided should the work not go ahead as planned as it is weather dependent.”
The City further encourages customers to treat all electrical installations as live until the work has been completed.
“The electricity supply could be restored at any time, and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation.”
