Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Anroux Marais is pleading with the public to assist authorities in tracking those who murdered a Paarl teenager.

Lee-Hogan Williams (19) was with a friend at the Fairyland cemetery on Friday, 16 September, when he was stabbed to death. His friend survived the attack.

Williams was a learner at Paulus Joubert Secondary School in Paarl.  He died at the scene. Marais said the latest knife attack comes mere weeks after Deveney Nel’s killing, where she, too, succumbed from stab wounds.

“The murder of Lee-Hogan Williams is a heinous crime. This is the second Western Cape learner to die from stab wounds in two weeks after Deveney Nel was killed in Caledon,” said Marais.

Nel’s murderer made his first court appearance today where the matter was postponed to 18 September. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in connection with Hogan’s death. Anyone who may have information is requested to contact Crimestop at 08600 10111.

“My plea is to any member of the public with information on the murder to please contact the South African Police Service (SAPS) urgently. This violence against the school-going youth of the Western Cape cannot stand. Together we can beat crime,” Marais concluded.
