Only 14 out of 54 African countries meets September vaccination-deadline

Published on

The World Health Organization says only 14 out of Africa’s 54 countries have met the global target of vaccinating more than 10% of their populations against Covid-19 by the end of September.

The Seychelles, Mauritius and Morocco have achieved the highest vaccination rates, all above 40%.

Others which have met the target are Tunisia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Overall, just 4% of Africans have been fully vaccinated, compared with 60% in the EU.
