Traffic officials are also implementing road closures as the situation demands. The blaze has resulted in 5 firefighters being injured, of whom 2 have been hospitalised.

The City of Cape Town’s Charlotte Powell says evacuations have been ordered:

“Some more precautionary evacuations have been done this afternoon, and DRMC staff are also checking various parking areas along the coastal road to direct members of the public out of the area. DRMC officials are closely monitoring the situation,” says Powell.

The municipality has also reminded the public to please not drop refreshments on the fire line, but rather to drop any donations they’d like to make at the Simon’s Town Fire Station on Long Beach Road.

Donations can include the following: energy drinks, energy sweets, water, chocolates, cool drinks, eye drops and non-perishable items.
