The National Professional Teachers’ Organisation has called for greater engagement from the Department of Basic Education, saying it wants to be more involved in the decision on whether learners should return to schools on a full-time basis.

This, after the DBE this week said it is engaging with role-players to decide whether learners kids should return to schools permanently.

NAPTOSA executive director, Basil Manuel says learners at most of the country’s schools are currently attending lessons on a rotational basis, where they are currently in classes two days in one week, and three days the following week.

Manuel says Unions expect to be a part of this discussion.
