Murderous Saturday in Muizenberg

Published on

Western Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, confirmed that investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of four people in Muizenberg.

It follows a murderous Saturday, starting in the morning when the bodies of a 15-year-old and 18-year-old, as well as a 25-year-old woman was discovered on Drakensberg Road in Hillview.

Pojie says Muizenberg SAPS were alerted to the scene by community members around 05:45

“The members discovered the three bodies who had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to their heads.  They were declared dead by medical personnel who attended to the scene. Muizenberg SAPS opened three counts of murder (triple murder) for further investigation.”

Later that day, two separate drive-by shooting incidents were reported. Pojie says these incidents took place on Woodpacker Road and the corner of St. Patrick and St. William Streets, in Seawinds.

Investigation into the Woodpacker Road indicate that unidentified gunmen opened fire there, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old male and the injury of another man.

In this matter, a case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated.

Similarly, at the St. Patrick scene, initial reports suggests that gunmen targeted a group, injuring three men.

Three counts of attempted murder are slated for further investigation.

“The motive is believed to be gang related, but still needs to be confirmed. No arrests have been made yet.”

Pojie has called on the public for assistance in their investigation.
