The Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa says South Africans have managed to recover up to 1.2-million tonnes of recycleabe paper in 2019.
If baled and laid end-to-end, the paper and paper packaging would stretch all the way to Cape Town, from Kempton Park.
Spokesperson at the Association, Samantha Choles, says this recovered paper saved 3.6-million cubic metres of landfill space in 2019.
In 2019, SA recovered 1.2 million tonnes of recyclable paper products which, when baled, would stretch from Kempton Park to Cape Town if the bales were laid end to end, fill 1 442 Olympic swimming pools or cover 219 soccer pitches, one bale deep. https://t.co/LebY4Ix2Ix pic.twitter.com/sqEPH2xWOR
