There will be more direct flights into Cape Town from October says Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis. This will help to drive up tourist numbers.
More direct flights into the Mother City
The City has partnered with Norse Atlantic Airways, bringing thrice-weekly flights from Gatwick Airport in London to Cape Town International Airport. The inaugural London-Cape Town flight will commence on the 28th of next month.
The Mayor added, “As part of the partnership, our ‘Choose Cape Town’ marketing material hits the streets of London where it will cover 40 of the English capital’s famous black cabs for November, strategically aligning with World Travel Market London.”

Hill-Lewis says World Travel Market London is the biggest global travel show. It will be held from 5 to 7 November.
The City’s new international logo
The City has also launched a new international logo. The Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Alderman James Vos says the cabs will bear the City’s new international logo. At the same time, the Mayor says the new logo is a global-facing representation of the vibrancy of Cape Town.

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis further says that once passengers hop into the cab, they will see further branding inside the vehicle with a QR code. That code will take them to a booking platform to secure a Norse Atlantic Airways flight to Cape Town.
Vos elaborated, “This makes it the first campaign where we have a direct conversion mechanism attached via the Norse flights.”
He says to make it more enticing, Norse is working on a special offer for flights booked through that particular code. Additional details about this will be confirmed by the airline.
