Alleged human traffickers arrested
The spokesperson for the Hawks in the Province, Lieutenant-Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, says 2 suspects were taken into custody on 20 May 2025, during a field operation. The 31- and 34-year-old suspects will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court today.

Search warrant obtained
Lieutenant-Colonel Vukubi says the arrests were carried out after they had obtained a search warrant. Officers were following up on information of a possible trafficked victim being held against her will in a guest house in Goodwood. He says she was allegedly forced to work as a sex worker.

Information about a possible trafficked victim
When members of the Hawks searched the premises, they found four females who admitted to being sex workers. Additionally, there were five other adult persons at the guest house, along with three small children. At the same time, two of the people at the dwelling were identified as the managers of the guest house.
Place of safety
Vukubi added that it has so far been established that one of the sex workers was a victim of trafficking. At that stage, officers arrested the two managers of the guest house. He says the victim was taken to a medical facility for medical examination. The woman will, after that, be referred to a Place of Safety.
