Condolences continue to pour in for the passing of the founder of Nakhlistan, Mohamed Shukoor Mowzer. He had founded the local NPO with a group of friends 38 years ago, and today – it has become synonymous with distributing meals amongst the thousands of less fortunate. Nakhlistan NPO, Fatima Allie says that the organization will now focus on celebrating Mowzer’s life, continuing his legacy, “he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to the quality of food that he cooked for our community. He loved speaking Afrikaans. He said: ‘Die kos wat ek maak moet bieter en lekkerde wies as wat ons in onse huise iet’. He maintained this for the past 38 years. The Nakhlistan Legacy is his Sadaqatul Jaariyah, the gift that keeps on giving.”

Mohamed Shukoor Mowzer was 63-years-old when he passed after a long battle with diabetes. Shukoor leaves behind a wife, 2 children, a grandson, a son-in-law, siblings, and our community. Messages from the community and City officials continued to pour in throughout the week:
