There have been 60 cases of vigilantism and mob justice between January and March this year in the Western Cape. These crimes are on the increase and – in the latest incident on Sunday, a 37-year-old man, whom community members had accused of a crime, was allegedly beaten to death by Kraaifontein residents. Community Safety and Police Oversight MEC, Reagan Allen says for the 2020/21 financial year, the province recorded 151 cases of murder, directly linked to mob justice.
