Mkhize: Phase 2 of the SA vaccine programme WILL commence on 17 May

Published on

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize has assured South Africans that phase 2 of the country’s vaccination programme will commence on 17 May even if phase 1, focusing on the vaccination of healthcare workers, have not yet been completed.

The Minister says currently available data indicates the country’s third wave of Covid-19 could be less severe than initially predicted.

He said it is not yet clear when next wave is set to hit South Africa but urged people to still adhere to the health- and safety-guidelines to avoid getting infected with the virus.

Mkhize says the country is expecting more doses of the vaccine soon.
