Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says R45 billion will be invested, over the next 3 years, to encourage residents to generate their own electricity. This to bolster the City’s access to secure energy. Hill-Lewis says residents can then also generate additional income, by selling their excess power back to the City grid, which can be relayed to other consumers. The Mayor says to make the Mother City, the country’s first loadshedding-free City, is a collective effort.
