The EFF is expected to take to the streets for their national shutdown today. They are protesting what they have termed the failure of the ANC-run government. They are also protesting the energy crisis and demanding that President Ramaphosa resigns from his post.
It has been very quiet in Cape Town, with Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis declaring earlier there is “no shutdown in Cape Town.”

- National Shutdown: Of the 87 arrests, 41 were in Gauteng, 29 in North West, 15 in Free State. There are also arrests in other provinces such as Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape. #smile904fmnews
| - In addition – At least 24 300 tyres have been seized. Police say the tyres were strategically placed for acts of criminality. 6000 were seized in WC, 4500 in the Free State, 3600 in Gauteng, 1513 in the EC.
