You can also visit the historic 1717 manor house, while the soothing sounds of contemporary piano music performed live by musician Riaan Nieuwenhuis provide the musical backdrop.

Wines from the farm will vie for your attention. You can have conversations with the winemaker Vusi Dalicuba.

Don’t forget, the in-house sommelier George Young is ready to be peppered with your questions at a special event on Saturday, 29 June.

The warm glow

Don’t forget to pay attention to the crackling fire, to gather some much-needed warmth. Chef Drikus Brink and his team at Geuwels restaurant will be on hand to tantalize the taste buds.

Here is more information about the farm from their web page

In 1696 Pieter de Vos could feast his eyes on what you see today – Table Mountain, the Helderberg mountain, the Eerste River, The Atlantic Ocean, vineyards and waving fields.

MORE ABOUT: A new era of hospitality has dawned

History, heritage and harmony converge here – winemaking over 3 centuries, vrijburgers layering and expanding the homestead, barn, slave lodge, threshing floor and cellars into one of the oldest and most intact of the early wine farms of the Cape of Good Hope.

A living, evolving national monument

This is a living, evolving national monument, part of the European Heritage Project and a WWF conservation site.

The Homestead Wine Lounge can be found on Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate, at 1 Faure Road, Somerset West. It is off the R310/Baden Powell Drive, on the Stellenbosch Wine Route.
