Listen: Mhkize says S.A. is prepared for 2nd wave of covid-19 infections

Health Minister says it is inevitable that South Africa will also will experience a second wave of covid-19 infections, but he says the country is now better prepared to deal with another surge in infections.

Mhkize says though there has been an increase in recorded infections, the country’s hospitalization and covid-19 death figure has stabilized.

Mhkize says the country has, in collaboration with the WHO, deployed surge-response teams to help monitor the pandemic on ground-level.

 

He says there are resources that will be used to fight a new wave of infections.

 

Mhkize says a lot of progress is being made with a covid-19 vaccine. He says there are currently three covid-19 vaccine trials on-going in the country.

 

He says collaboration, with international companies and scientists, play a great role in the speedy development and delivery of an effective vaccine…
