It took trail runners AJ Calitz and  Christiaan Greyling 20 hours to break a Guinness World Record. Late last night the pair summited and descended down Table Mountain a total of 14 times, breaking the record for the greatest vertical distance on foot. They completed the mammoth task just before midnight last night, 10 May 2021.

The duo decided to give themselves a challenge as they took on Platteklip Gorge, and also to raise awareness for Edunova, a Non-Profit Company working to uplift the South African education sector. AJ also holds the Guinness World record for The Most Vertical Height Gained in 12 hours, that he also set on Table Mountain in 2014. He caught up with Smile Breakfast this morning to talk about their latest record.
