The two men, who allegedly shot and killed Cape Town businessman and underworld figure Mark Lifman in November, in the Southern Cape, will return to the court dock in April.
Johan Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout were arrested a few hours after Lifman’s death.
After appearing briefly in the George Magistrates’ Court this morning, the matter was adjourned to 15 April. The postponement is to give state prosecutors more time to retrieve ballistic reports and cellphone data before the case is taken to trial. Raw footage of seven cell phones, of which two have international numbers, are also awaiting analysis. The suspects are listed as protection service employees, and both have links to Professional Protection Alternatives (PPA), a security firm Lifman was reportedly tied to.

Lifman was shot dead in the parking lot of Garden Route Mall in George in November last year. At the time, Lifman was facing multiple serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering, and gang-related offences, notoriously related to his involvement in alleged underworld battles for the control of nightclubs.
