Investigations into fraud and corruption at National Lotteries Commission starting to bear fruit

Published on

The Special Investigating Unit says the investigations into fraud and corruption at the National Lotteries Commission are starting to bear fruit.

The Unit yesterday managed to obtain a preservation order to freeze a R27-million luxury property linked to the former chairperson of the NLC, Professor Alfred Nevhutanda.

Nevhutanda allegedly bought the mansion in 2018, with monies funneled, via non-profit organizations, from the NLC.

The SIU’s Kaizer Kganyago spoke to eNCA and says the looting of money at the NLC follows an intricate pattern.

He says investigations into this full-scale corruption are ongoing.

Kganyago says the information will now be shared with the Special Tribunal.

He says employees of the NLC, who facilitated the fraud, will also find themselves in hot water.
