Intercare Blouberg Marathon to impact local roads

The Intercare Blouberg Marathon is taking place this weekend, 30 and 31 August, and the organisers have alerted road users to be aware of several roads that will be affected.

 

Hosted by the West Coast Athletic Club, the event features four race distances, catering for both seasoned athletes and casual runners.

 

Race Schedule:

 

  • 42.2km Marathon – Saturday, 30 August 2025 | Start: 6:30am
  • 21.1km Half Marathon – Sunday, 31 August 2025 | Start: 7:00am
  • 10km Race – Sunday, 31 August 2025 | Start: 7:30am
  • 5km Fun Run – Sunday, 31 August 2025 | Start: 9:00am

 

Roads Affected

 

Organisers have urged residents and motorists to take note of affected roads across the Blouberg, Table View and Melkbosstrand areas.

 

Saturday (42.2km Marathon)

Roads will be cleared by 12:30 pm.

 

The route includes Big Bay Boulevard, Otto du Plessis, Hill Road, Coral Road, Watsonia Road, Watermeyer Road, Viola Road, Crassula Road, Disa Road, Blaauwberg Service Road, Beach Boulevard, Stadler Road, Atlantic Beach Drive, Birkenhead Drive, Atlantic Avenue, and several others.

 

Sunday (21.1km Half Marathon & 10km Race)

Roads will reopen by 11 am.

 

Key affected areas include Cormorant Avenue, Otto du Plessis, Atlantic Beach Drive, Robben Road, Harold Ashwell Boulevard, Beach Road, and 11th Avenue.

 

For the 10km race, parts of Big Bay Boulevard, Otto du Plessis, Coral Road, Beach Boulevard, Sir David Baird, Stadler Road, and Eden on the Bay will be impacted.

Lane Closure Notice

The northbound lane of Otto du Plessis between Seaside Village and Melkbos will be closed during the event.
