The World Series
The first tournament is on 30 November in Dubai. It then goes to Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Hong Kong and Singapore. It will end in Los Angeles on 3-4 May 2025. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says he is excited to welcome the world for the eighth World Series tournament.
“I can tell you that this is one of the funnest events in the whole Cape Town events calendar,” he said.
He says the City is ready to host the series again. It has been voted the Best Live Event in South Africa two years in a row. Hill-Lewis has invited rugby fans to come and enjoy themselves in the vibe and atmosphere of the tournament. At the same time, you are encouraged to explore all the wonderful things Cape Town has to offer.
Meanwhile, SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer has invited fans to be part of the vibe and to get their tickets as soon as possible.
He added, “The tournament features the 12 best men’s and women’s sevens teams in the world and the action will be non-stop over two days on one field.”
Oberholzer says the HSBC SVNS promises to be an unforgettable weekend experience. He says it’s the place where rugby meets an electric and fun atmosphere packed with music, entertainment and a full roster of games.
The party people of Cape Town will also be gearing up to break a world record on Day Two of The HSBC SVNS Cape Town, on Sunday, December 8th.

SA Rugby Communications about HSBC SVNS:
HSBC SVNS is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season, the competition was formed to promote an elite level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product.
The circuit consists of seven tournaments held in seven countries, generally beginning in November or December and ending in May or June. All tournaments feature the same 12 teams.
Teams compete for the World Series title by accumulating points based on their finishing position in each tournament.
