Cape Town’s fastest growing radio station, Smile 90.4FM, had a double celebration for their 3rd birthday, firstly reaching a new milestone with an audience of 100 000 listeners and by giving 52 lucky listeners the chance of winning BIG in their ‘IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY’ competition.
The competition that ran from 7 – 24 March, got listeners calling in daily from 6am – 6pm when they heard their ‘birthday month’ called out. Those who got through first, won the chance to double their R 1000 cash prize as well as an invite to the Smile 90.4FM birthday breakfast, where they could win a brand new VW UP, worth R150 000 from McCarthy Volkswagen, Parow.
“We decided to run this competition as it fitted in perfectly with our month of celebration – not only were we celebrating the station’s 3rd birthday but also our Managing Director, Lois O’Brien’s one year anniversary and what better way to do this than to give a birthday gift to our listeners and make their dream come true,” says Sarah Jacobs, Marketing Manager for Smile 90.4 FM.
After five spins and a spin off round between two finalists both with birthdays on 6 June, Rebecca Nissen, from Delft was the lucky birthday girl to drive away in the brand new VW UP. Overwhelmed and over the moon, Nissen was so excited as it would not only being her anniversary with her late husband but this was the first car she has ever owned.
“I woke up this morning and said to my four children that we are going to fetch my first car today. I am overwhelmed and would like to thank Smile 90.4FM for giving me this amazing gift. As a single mother, this has really been the biggest gift ever received.” Says Nissen with much emotion.
“Lastly, I just want to thank Smile 90.4 FM and McCarthy Volkswagen, Parow for this beautiful car, I can’t wait to go home and show all my friends and family,” says Nissen.
The competition is not only the first for 2016 but also the single biggest prize value to date to be given away on Smile 90.4FM to celebrate three years on air.
