This marks the fourth consecutive month of decreases in fuel prices, which helps to cushion the blow for consumers battling to stay up-to-date with the high cost of living. The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy made the figures available on Monday. Spokesperson Robert Maake has listed the reasons for the decreases:

The reason for these decreases are the lower oil prices and stronger Rand against the US Dollar during the period under review. The slate levy remains unchanged. This is the fourth month in succession that the fuel prices have dropped. The prices of petrol have dropped by about R3,44 per litre over this period,” said Maake.
