‘Gut-wrenching’ tragedy befalls New Somerset Hospital, fatal shooting leaves 3 dead

An investigation is underway after a shooting at the New Somerset Hospital over the weekend, which left 3 people, including a police officer, dead. A patient who was ready for discharge, allegedly obtained a firearm during an altercation with the police officer, who was guarding another patient. He allegedly shot the police officer and then 2 patients. A healthcare worker on the scene managed to calm the shooter down, and convinced him to hand over the weapon.
