Greenmarket Square will pulse with music, culture, and community spirit on 16 December 2025. This is as Unity On The Square (UOTS) marks its fifth anniversary with a special tribute to one of the Mother City’s most cherished artists, Loukmaan Adams. Loukmaan celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this year.
“As I celebrate 50 years of life and over four decades in the arts, it’s incredible to see young talent, women, and communities come alive on the same stage, sharing their stories and creating opportunities,” says Loukmaan Adams.
Greenmarket Square will pulse with music
Following calls for a birthday concert, Loukmaan Adams and his wife and creative partner, Shaakirah Adams, chose instead to honour the milestone with the city that shaped him -right on the Square, where people gather, stories overlap, and culture lives.
“Unity On The Square is a celebration of creativity and community. Each year we see lives and stories transformed,” says Shaakirah Adams, Project Director.
Unity on the Square 2025
Established in 2021, Unity On The Square was born from a simple, powerful idea: to unite Cape Town through music, storytelling, dance, and heritage. Greenmarket Square, once a site of hardship during slavery, is now reclaimed as a place of joy, healing, and shared pride. On this historic ground, the cobblestones become a stage, celebrating resilience, diversity, and the soul of the Mother City.
