A 47-year-old prison warden has been arrested after drugs and other items were found in his vehicle at Goodwood Prison.
The Anti-Gang Unit and Department of Correctional Services Emergency Support Team conducted a targeted roadblock at the prison on Wednesday morning.
Police say they found 600 Mandrax tablets, 100 grams of tik, 300 grams of dagga and 23 cellphones in the warden’s vehicle.
They also seized other items, including USB memory sticks, libido tablets and some condoms.
The drugs are estimated to be worth around R65,000. The warden is being held at Goodwood Police Station and is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court once charged.
