Golden Arrow Driver Suspended Following Fatal Cape Town CBD Accident

Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) has confirmed the suspension of one of its bus drivers following a fatal accident at the corner of Plein and Strand Streets in Cape Town’s CBD earlier this morning.

 

GABS spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer says the suspension is in line with company policy.

 

“We can confirm the tragic incident this morning in which a female pedestrian was declared deceased on the scene. The exact circumstances are now under investigation.”

Meanwhile, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that it is investigating a case of culpable homicide.

 

“A yet to be identified woman was knocked down by a bus while crossing the road. She was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.”
