Gauteng has enough hospital beds to accommodate Covid-19 patients

The acting Health Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane says even though Covid-19 field hospitals in Gauteng were decommissioned last year, there are still enough hospital beds available to accommodate and treat critically ill patients.

The Minister says private healthcare facilities are now assisting Government to absorb and treat patients that require urgent medical attention.

She says field-hospitals, such as the NASREC centre, were deactivated in 2020 due to cost-concerns and the low-levels of hospitalization.
