Former president Jacob Zuma should face corruption and racketeering probes for his role as a willing enabler of the plunder of Transnet.

Zuma fought tooth and nail to elevate Siyabonga Gama into a position of CEO at the parastatal despite protests from the board and Department of Public Enterprises. Once he was eventually installed, the commission found he helped set in motion the Gupta family’s seizure of the parastatal as part of their grand project of state capture. These findings are contained in the second of three reports that was released by acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo yesterday.
