Published on

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has sought to debunk reports that its school calendar is changing or that it has changed.

The fake reports have been doing the rounds, and this has been the subject of contention and confusion among both parents and learners.

The Department is assuring the public that this is indeed fake news and that the annual school calendar is set well in advance after which it is gazetted by the National Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube. Members of the public have been prompted to verify their sources at all times, before contributing to the spread of misinformation.

The WCED is also reminding parents and guardians who are awaiting school placement offers that it’s still early days, as they will receive communication in due course.
