The National Institute of Communicable Diseases has recorded more than 11,125 new cases of the coronavirus yesterday. The positivity rate has increased from 22.4% on Friday, to 23.8%. The chairperson of the South African Medical Association, Dr Angelique Coetzee says although the country is indeed in the fourth wave, there’s no reason to panic, over the weekend’s figures. Another expert in communicable diseases at the University of the Witwatersrand, Prof. Susan Goldstein also said that the country is in the fourth wave.
