Apparently 4 in 10 people under the age of 40 don’t have a toolbox at home. That doesn’t mean you don’t have tools though.

Alternative tools and how to use them

Just because you don’t have a toolbox it doesn’t mean you don’t have tools. Here’s a list of everyday items that you can employ for alternative functions:

1. Butter Knife
Officially: Spreads butter.
Actually: Flathead screwdriver, paint scraper, battery cover opener, light crowbar.

2. Shoe
Officially: Footwear.
Actually: Hammer, spider annihilator, doorstop, or ceremonial object for scaring pigeons off balconies.

3. Credit Card
Officially: Facilitates financial ruin.
Actually: Box cutter, ice scraper, sticker remover, and lock picker (for the one person in the friend group who swears they saw it in a movie).

4. Towel
Officially: Dries your body.
Actually: Pipe wrench grip aid, oven mitt, spill mop, furniture mover, emergency curtain during Zoom calls.

5. Teaspoon
Officially: Measures sugar.
Actually: Mini chisel, lid popper, screw-scooper, and that one thing you use when the butter knife is in the sink.
